Snap: Life in Motion

Life in the city is all about running. There is the fast pace of life: dreams to be pursued and a competition against time. Photographer Herbert Johan shares a photography series on Monday Flying, entitled: ‘Run’.

Herbert Johan is a Singapore-based award-winning photographer. Despite being diagnosed by a doctor to be partially colorblind (he cannot distinguish between close hues of colors properly), he has made an impact in the local photography scene.

Having taken part in the Canon PhotoMarathon in 3 consecutive years, he has scored a hat-trick in the photography competition by winning awards in 2007 – 2009.

‘Run’, a photography series started by Herbert out of his observations of city life in Singapore, reflects the urban need to be constantly on the move.

According to Herbert: “Each and everyone of us have a reason to run in our lives somehow. We run from our reality, run to chase our dreams, run as a sport, or run from all of  our problems. Some of us are perhaps running to get back to our routine which has been on hold. The ‘Run’ photography series is dedicated to all who are running.”
